Zoom used to offer attention tracking as a native feature. However, this functionality was removed in April 2020. This decision was part of a significant effort on Zoom’s part to address privacy concerns and enhance the safety of their users, especially during the rapid surge in Zoom usage worldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related measures.
In response to the removal of this feature, we developed MorphCast for Zoom. Our goal was to offer users an alternative solution that enables them to monitor attendees’ engagement during virtual events while prioritizing data privacy and security. With MorphCast for Zoom, you can track the attention level of participants without compromising their personal information, ensuring a safe and privacy-conscious approach to gathering insights from your online events.

MorphCast for Zoom is a service that provides real-time analysis of participants’ emotional state, attention level, and engagement during video conferences or webinars on Zoom. It aims to help improve communication and interactions during these virtual events by analyzing the data through both real time and deferred dashboard.
The service is based on MorphCast Emotion AI technology, which is software for image processing that can determine the emotional state and other apparent characteristics of an individual in front of the camera.
During the Zoom video conference or webinar, the organizer can start and stop the analysis, and participants can choose to accept or reject the analysis. If the analysis is enabled, the organizer can access a real-time dashboard with a table that displays the participants’ name, dominant emotion, number of faces in front of the screen, attention level, and engagement. The dashboard also shows the average attention and arousal levels of the participants, dominant emotions, and attention level per minute.
After the event, the organizer can access a report that includes a table with the data of each participant who authorized the analysis, such as name, dominant emotion, and average attention and arousal levels. The report also includes the top 5 emotions expressed by participants during the entire event, a 2D emotional space, and the dominant emotions of the participants in percentage. The organizer can select individuals or groups of participants and view their respective data.
MorphCast for Zoom is available through the Zoom App Marketplace and is a paid service that anyone with a Zoom account can use.

MorphCast for Zoom is an App available in the Zoom App Marketplace, easy to use just following the simple steps contained in this Quick Start Guide. It is not an application that needs to be downloaded and installed separately on a device. Instead, users can simply access the Zoom App Marketplace from within their Zoom account, search for the MorphCast for Zoom, and then connect it directly to their Zoom account. Once the app is activated, it can be accessed and used during video conferences and webinars from within the Zoom browser interface through the URL served by the application on the domain zoom.morphcast.com.

Yes, participants can choose to accept or reject the analysis. If they reject the analysis, their data will not be included in the dashboard or report.

Yes, participants can choose to accept or reject the emotional analysis provided by MorphCast for Zoom. If a participant does not consent to the emotional analysis, they can still participate in the video conference or webinar, but their data will not be included in the real-time dashboard or post-event report.

Yes, participants can revoke their consent to the emotional analysis provided by MorphCast for Zoom at any time during the video conference or webinar. The organizer of the event can also stop the analysis at any time if needed.

MorphCast for Zoom analyzes participants’ attention level, engagement and emotional state during the videoconference or webinar. It determines the dominant emotion, number of faces in front of the screen, and attention level and engagement of each participant.

Yes, MorphCast for Zoom is GDPR-compliant for the part managed by MorphCast. The software is specifically designed to not identify the subjects being analyzed, but only to make an instant and volatile processing of personal data through the scanning of images extracted from the camera flow provided by the browser. On the flip side, if your usage declines in the next month, the plan will automatically downgrade to a less advanced tier, corresponding to your lesser usage.
