Make Real Ltd, for London Business School, developed an AI-powered storytelling practice app to help learners explore and improve their storytelling skills. The project aims to support both current and future leaders in telling stories that persuade, inspire, and take the listener on a journey. This project won a Merit Business award.
Overview
As storytelling plays a central role in many of the School’s programmes—especially in contexts such as career journeys, leadership, and personal success—the app was created to provide practical support in developing this skill. To power the emotional feedback mechanism, the app integrates MorphCast Emotion AI, enabling emotional recognition during storytelling exercises.
London Business School Experience
Using MorphCast’s real-time facial emotion recognition, the AI practice app analyses how learners tell their stories and the emotions they show. The system offers detailed feedback, and summaries of the user’s emotional delivery. This allows learners to better understand the emotional impact of their storytelling.
Process
MorphCast Emotion AI engine was integrated seamlessly into the AI practice app to deliver real-time emotion detection. The app uses MorphCast Emotion AI to interpret facial expressions directly on the user’s device, enabling instant analysis without storing or transmitting personal data.

Impact
A study was conducted comparing users of the AI-powered app to a control group using traditional materials. The AI group reported great results.
Key Achievements
7% increase in confidence in storytelling skills
21% greater understanding of personal storytelling strengths
19% greater understanding of areas for improvement
17% greater understanding of how to structure a compelling story
These results demonstrate the app’s effectiveness in enhancing communication skills through real-time, emotion-aware practice.
